This is not my first blog, my most successful blog to date was http://ukgeneralelection2015.blogspot.co.uk/ all born out of a day on twitter when there was a re run of a general election on the parliament channel in 2013 and I found I was not alone in enjoying the re run election coverage and that facts and figures thrown up by past and current results and the opinion poll industry, not only interested me but were of interest to others.
So I created the blog which with over 2 years to go to the general election, left me well place to be on the first page of google search engines at the time. My twitter account which was UKGE2015 and which is now UKGE2020 has nearly 11,000 followers. I had actually had over 4 million interactions in the 28 day period around the UK election in May 2015, and the blog had got into the top 100,000 sites worldwide. All through my fascination with numbers and statistics.
But much like when people leave a steady job for a company, they sometimes think to themselves why not go self employed because they want more time with the family. It is the ingenious quirk of fate that to be successful you actually have to work more so get less time to yourself.
In May 2015 the month of the election I earned over a thousand pounds. it was time to think, kick on and do more, set up an opinion pollster website, and put your heart and soul into it. But I knew in the back of my mind, this was my Christmas, once the election is over you only have every May as your bonanza time, and it had even started to effect my relationship with my wife. So I pulled back and the site declined, other folks with more time had set up better sites and with this information it is only those who have a fact first that win, to repeat the information is not needed.
So https://ukgeneralelection2020.blogspot.co.uk/ waits to be awoken, which in 2019 I might just do as I do love the numbers and stats, but it is great to have the freedom which this blogs brings.
(and the day after writing this a General Election had been called in the UK, so now all my hobby time will go into this blog)
This is frivolous, can I make a connection with a million other folks around the world? What will I find on my travels? What ideas can be transferred to me election blog? Will I just keep doing this? Lots of questions and for once an appetite to do something without the pressure of I must put valid information out. I can explore and enjoy.
