How do we work out the route?

I am a fatalist (what will be will be) So the thought of looking over lots of fixture lists and planning the intricate route made no sense. For one, because of television a lot of the games will be moved, you then have cup competitions and then the British weather. Which would make any best laid plans dust within weeks.

The plan is to use the Saints fixture list as the back bone. Plan for every home game and then every away game would cover all the Premier league teams. The football league season starts the week before on 5th August and I am guessing that a match will be moved to the Friday night so before we get to the first match in the Premier league we might have notched 3 or hopefully 4 league home grounds off the list.

Their will be a small amount of planning so a visit to Manchester for a Saints game will mean trying to fit in Stockport/Bury or some other nearby team. Not a trip then to Gillingham or Plymouth. Hopefully like last year Southampton did play a fair amount of Sunday games, Now this was down to them being in Europe but they still have to play sides who will be competing in Europe and Sunday is SKYs preferred day. Which should help getting a game in elsewhere on a Saturday.

So planning will be about a week or two in advance much as though if I were doing it for real. It should be an interesting journey, a vague idea of direction but no real idea on the path to be taken, Brilliant!
